A Mother’s Heart Learning Center’s educational philosophy is simple. Learning should be enjoyable whether it be through play or instruction. Adequate time, materials and space will be provided for children to actively explore the world around them. Children will have an opportunity to use a variety of art materials, manipulatives and items to ensure exciting, engaging, and age appropriate learning
The CREATIVE Curriculum is a research based curriculum to help stimulate learning at all ages. It focuses on the areas of Social/Emotional, Physical, Mathematics, and Language/Literacy.
Parents will also receive written documentation, attend periodic conferences, and review their child’s portfolio. Parents will have online access to our daily update platform (Brightwheel) and our observation and assessment platform (Teaching Strategies) which is a part of our Creative Curriculum. We will use curriculum, lesson plans and assessments aligned to the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards to provide a framework for the developmental expectations of our children. The Lead Teachers will be responsible for selecting their daily/weekly/ monthly lesson plans from Creative Curriculum and ensuring Teaching Strategies is updated with observations and assessments for all executed activities, identified group goals, and selected individual goals for each child.
Developmentally appropriate practices will always be used when trying to address disruptive behavior. Any child guidance technique must nurture each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. A Mother’s Heart Learning Center staff believes in positive guidance of children. Discipline methods we use will focus on communication, encouraging positive behavior, redirection and/or possible removal from a negative situation. These methods create effective ways to manage crying, fussing and distraught children.
A Mother's Heart Learning Center will assist a child with special health care needs/preferences to ensure he/she has a positive experience. All AMHLC staff will be trained annually in food service. All meals will be cooked and prepared by trained staff and follow USDA guidelines.
Trained teachers serve children ages 6 weeks to 1 year. The day for a child in the "Praise" room consists of reading time, diapering, snack time, outside play, lunch time, and nap time. Even at an early age we push for active learning through books and reading.
The "Joy" Room serves children ages 1 years to 2 years old. The "Joy" room teachers help spark the young toddlers brains with creative activities. Reading is a huge part of this classroom to help ignite speech in each of the kids.
Serving children ages 2 years to 3 years old, the "Healing" room has sit around time, small group time, free play, hand washing, snack time, all group time, outdoor time, story time, and lunch throughout each day for the children.
The "Love" Room teaches serve a wide range of children aging 3 years old to 13 years old. We serve ages 3 and up who are not yet attending an elementary school. We want to prepare 3 and 4 year olds for school life by using brain activating activities to create a love for learning. After normal school hours, we serve all school-age children for after care or night time care. After school is a time to help the children with their homework, allow free play time, and engage them in lesson plans that allow them to learn in a fun way!
